New Books for Sale

Everyone else may be talking about Harper Lee’s latest novel – but we’re more excited about stocking the latest books from Ann Merivale and Terry Gray. As well as our Deep Memory Process Therapist, Ann Merivale is a prolific author and an adoptive mother. Her 6th book ‘Thicker Than Blood?’, further illustrates her insights from her research and therapeutic experience by exploring the past-life family connections where there’s adoption, fostering and in step families. Our friend Terry also provides us with her wisdom and life experience in ‘Flowers on The Grass’. One reader has described it as ‘a book which so completely lifts the veil on the enlightened state, without pointing conspicuously towards it’. Both books are available to buy here but if you’re not in the area, they’re also available on Amazon.

Mattresses and back pain..Does it really matter?

Your bed: a place where relaxation and tranquillity are often associated.  Yet so many of us are concerned that our beds don’t offer the necessary support for our backs, especially since 8/10 of us are affected by back pain at some point in our life. Should we be having sleepless nights over the surface we’re sleeping on? And does the mattress quality really affect back pain?

Goodbye and Good luck Amie!

Soon we’ll be saying goodbye to our osteopath Amie Gallagher who’s moving down to Shropshire to join her partner’s parents’ osteopathic clinic, which they’ll eventually take over.  She’ll be missed by many at the Centre; her technique style, warmth and generosity of spirit fits in well with our clinic aims and professional standards, but we know that this is too good an opportunity for them both to ignore  and we wish them every success in the future. There are still appointments available with Amie up to her last day in Ripon on Tuesday 15th October. We’re currently in the process of trying to find another osteopath to replace her  and until a suitable candidate has been chosen, Mark Young is available for osteopathic consultations. If you or someone you know is an osteopath and would be interested in joining us, please contact us

Exercise Sessions

Mark is holding regular exercise sessions on Thursday mornings at Ripon Natural Health Centre. These will be for  1-4 people and so can be tailored for individual needs. In general we will focus on learning simple self mobilising exercises, stretches, core strengthening and balance.  We will also work on body awareness and relaxation. This is also an ideal opportunity to work on post injury rehabilitation. During treatment patients will often ask for exercises and it is frustrating and difficult to try and learn them in a short time and not be sure if you are doing them correctly. So this is an opportunity to get this aspect of treatment right. Your general health will improve if your mobility is better and your risk of falling is less if your balance and strength are good. You can work to strengthen the back and your knees, or to increase the range of movement in your neck or shoulders for example. Classes can be taken in blocks of 4 or as one off sessions. Time : Thursday 11.45-12.45 commencing 2 May 2013 Price : £10 per session or £30 for 4 sessions in advance. Please book in advance for these classes by ringing 01765 601447 or emailing enquiries@riponnaturalhealth.co.uk
